Alexander McQueen challenged and expanded our understanding of fashion beyond utility to a conceptual expression of culture, politics, and identity. He was a provocateur and a raconteur who told stories through his clothes – stories that might draw from the past or other cultures, but were relevant to the here and now. He had the mind of a poet and the heart of an artist. He was a true romantic, in the Byronic sense of the word, who channeled the sublime.

Styling Tips: Floral Pants
This is not normally a trend I’d gravitate toward, but like a catchy song…after seeing them around at various retailers, on the runway & fashion magazines I’ve decided that I like the look—when styled properly, that is.
- Keep your top basic: This style is busy, and while you might be inclined to add a coordinating color on top, stick to basic white, black or gray for an effortlessly put together look
- Pick a color that coordinates with your wardrobe: Similar to point #1, if you wear a lot of black, go with a pair that has a black background. This will fit into your wardrobe better, and you’ll be more inclined to wear them
- Select a style you’d normally wear: If you’re a skinny jeans fan, stick with floral denim and if you’re more inclined to wear a trouser-like pant, go with those. If you are going out of your comfort zone with the trendy print, you might as well stick with something you’re comfortable wearing to ease into the trend.
- Keep accessories simple: This will let the pants stand out, and will avoid an overly busy ensemble. Unless you’re a fashion risk-taker (a la Ms. Palermo, above), keep your shoe choice solid & in a coordinating or complementary hue. Black flats or pumps would go well with many, and nude or cognac colored shoes with light patterns.Examples (above): H&M, Citizens of Humanity, Asos, Topshop

Would anyone like to be my personal photographer?
I miss writing.
I’m not sure why I gave it up, but I’m realizing now that I miss it more than ever. I’ve decided not to resurrect the old blog; it’ll always hold its own special memories for me. But I think I will start a new one.
I’m kind of excited to have a new project at my hands.
